THQ news started rolling in about trouble at Vigil. The new was backed by a tweet from Ben Cureton, combat designer on Darksiders. It simply read:
“Anyone looking for a designer? =)”
Later that day, Ben was able to expand on his thoughts via a post on NeoGAF.
A brief part of that post is as follow…
The seats are empty….
We’ve all been on edge for the past couple months… and more so, the last couple weeks. I mean, I’m sure you can imagine what it’s like to wonder if you will have a job tomorrow. Most of us here joked about it just to keep the mood light, but we all knew what could happen. Now I look around and I realize…it did happen.
…maybe you can imagine what it feels like when you read the list of who bought what only to discover your name is not on the list. Why? Did we do something wrong? Were we not good enough? Were we not worth ‘anything?’ Imagine that.
I can only say thank you to the fans of Vigil games. Your support means more than you can imagine. Your feedback (both positive and negative) gave us long-lasting insight that we will all take with us, wherever we may go. You are the reason we made Darksiders 1 & 2…and you are the reason we will continue to make games.
And with that… my seat is empty.

In a post on the official Darksiders II website, THQ broke down the whys and wherefores of the delay, which will see the game release sometime in August, as opposed to June.
This small delay is to allow additional time for polish and bug fixing. As we’ve stated in numerous articles and videos, Darksiders II is substantially larger game than its predecessor and the ambition of this project requires extra time to polish to the high standards that Vigil Games and THQ are committed to.
As we approached the game’s completion date, the team asked for more time to polish the huge amount of content included in this ambitious project. We are all committed to making Darksiders II the highest-quality game possible and the additional time will allow the team to do just that. The game content remains unchanged, as do our future DLC plans.
Concerns, of course, arose in the wake of recent layoffs at Vigil, which claimed a whopping 79 jobs – though the Darksiders II team remained mostly intact. Obviously, though, THQ’s on shaky (though slightly less dire, as of today) ground, and all eyes are on – somewhat ironically – Death to be the one that brings the beleaguered publisher back from the brink. Happily, Adam found the sequel to be a refreshingly in-character departure from the solid-if-unspectacular first game, so THQ might just be onto something.

[/caption]So the official countdown to February 14th has begun. I got a hot date this Valentine’s day! My wife? Hmmmm I guess her too… But my real excitement is for THQ’s UFC Undisputed 3. This is the third installment to the MMA powerhouse franchise. Fans and gamers have waited almost two years for this release and by the looks of it, it was worth the wait.
All the buzz and the reason why gamers will probably have a hard time finding a “UFC” match online is the debut of PRIDE FC mode. The game will feature the now defunct organization, including fighters, announcers and most importantly the rules! That’s right, soccer kicks to the head, knees to the head of downed opponents and face stomps!
[/caption]Along with tons of new additions such as fighter entrances, a new submission system, leg kick tko’s, and dozens of new transitions, this seems as much of a polished MMA game as you can get. I had the opportunity to get my hands on it at a past UFC event and I most say WOW! As a gamer and a huge fan of the sport this game is the real deal. From the beautiful graphics to the smooth game play, this game is for everyone from the hardcore MMA fans to the casual gamer. The new simplified control option will allow anyone to pick up the controller and jump right into the octagon! The traditional control option is there for the more advance players. All together I think THQ did a fantastic job. After announcing the franchise will not be releasing annually this will hold over fans and gamers for the next year and a half.
